Hello, I have an 8630 all in one printer. Each time I change wireless providers/routers I have an issue connecting the printer. I have a new router currently and cannot connect.

Hi @BestDock
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Connecting your HP OfficeJet Pro 8630 to a new wireless router can be tricky, but here’s a step-by-step guide to help you set it up:
Step 1: Prepare Your Printer
- Turn On the Printer: Make sure your printer is powered on.
- Reset Network Settings (optional but recommended):
- On the printer's control panel, go to Setup (the gear icon) > Network > Network Reset.
- Confirm the reset. This will erase the old network settings.
Step 2: Connect to New Wi-Fi Network
Access Wireless Setup:
- From the printer’s home screen, go to Setup > Network > Wireless Settings.
Select Wireless Setup Wizard:
- Choose Wireless Setup Wizard. The printer will search for available networks.
Choose Your Network:
- When prompted, select your new Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks.
Enter Wi-Fi Password:
- Input your Wi-Fi password when prompted. Make sure to enter it correctly, as it is case-sensitive.
Step 3: Install Printer Software
Download and Install HP Software:
- On your computer, go to the HP Support website and download the latest printer software for the OfficeJet Pro 8630.
- Run the installer and follow the prompts to install the software.
Add the Printer:
- During the installation process, choose the option to connect via Wi-Fi.
- The installer should detect your printer on the network. Follow the prompts to complete the setup.
Step 4: Test the Connection
- Print a Test Page:
- After the installation, try printing a test page to ensure the printer is connected properly.
Troubleshooting Tips
Check Router Settings:
- Ensure that the router’s settings are compatible with the printer (e.g., check for 2.4 GHz band, as some printers have issues with 5 GHz).
Reboot Devices:
- Restart both the printer and the router after making changes to the network settings.
Firewall/Router Security:
- If you have security features enabled on your router (like MAC address filtering), make sure your printer is allowed.
WPS Connection (if available):
- If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you can try connecting via WPS by pressing the WPS button on the router and selecting the WPS option on the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
