Hi @EvieGriff,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer's connectivity!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
You can't directly connect your Android phone to your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 via an Ethernet cable, as Android devices don't support direct Ethernet printing.
But no worries! Here are some alternative ways to print from your phone:
Wi-Fi Printing: Connect both your printer and Android phone to the same Wi-Fi network. Install the HP Smart App from the Play Store, add your printer, and start printing.
USB OTG + Printer Cable (Possible Workaround): Use a USB OTG adapter to connect your phone to the printer via USB. Install the HP Print Service Plugin from the Play Store. This method works with some HP printers but isn't guaranteed.
Using a Router (Wired Option): Connect your printer to a router via Ethernet. Ensure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer. Use the HP Smart App to find and print to the printer.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you need any more assistance. 😊📱🖨️
