HP Notebook 15s-fq1003ns
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer is an HP OfficeJet Pro 8620, running the latest firmware, software and drivers.

My laptop is on Windows 10 Pro 1909.

When 'Scan to PC' feature is disabled -e.g. after a WiFi connection is lost, I have always seen before a non-intrusive small informative icon on the desktop's task bar, that dissapeared once the connection was recovered. The icon was present only for a few seconds when logging-in Windows, informing of the feature had been started.

From some weeks ago, instead of the mentioned task bar icon, I get an annoying pop-up window in the center of my desktop, alerting of the 'Scan to PC' status, and that pop up must be closed manually.

I'd like to get the previous icon back instead. How could I preserve the function without getting that annoying window?

OK..

Well, I don't know.

That the setup recovers at all (Scan to Computer) enables after a bit, is better than not.

Other than disabling the notification, I don't know how / why the notification was (previously) disappearing on its own and no longer does that.

You might be able to retrieve the behavior by removing the printer software and then reinstalling it.  Not sure I would bother with it, but there is a chance that this would reverse the need to have to kill the notification from the display every time it shows up.

If I think of anything substantive to add, I will edit this message or post back.

Thank you so much for your answer.

Please forgive me, as I perhaps didn't explain myself so clearly as I would.

Actually, I was happy with the taskbar icon notification, and I don't intend to put my printer notifications off.

I want to supress the pop-up window alert, not the task bar notification icon that I'm actually missing!

I'd like to get the task-bar icon notifications back for my printer, but avoiding the popup window.

Thank you one more time!

You are welcome.

I suspect I do not understand what you are seeing, after all.

I thought you were referring to the ScanToPCActivation pop-up message or perhaps those notices controlled by the "informational notifications" setup.

One thing you could do is switch off everything and then switch back on those notifications that you want to see.

If I find anything in my notes that sounds more like what you are seeking, I will edit this message or post back.

Thank you, Dragon-Fur.

I'll try to explain myself better.

Until a few weeks ago, the notifications I was receiving related to 'Scan to PC' feature were only:

- Loggin in Windows: no notification at all, and Scan to PC was fully operative.

- Printer connection lost -whatever the origin: an icon (a small scanner with a white X on a red circle) appeared on the taskbar, saying 'Scan to PC is not available'; this icon was shown only for a few seconds.

- Printer connection recovered: no notification at all, and Scan to PC was fully operative once again.

Now (and I haven't done anything -deliberately):

- Loggin in Windows: a popup window in the center of my screen, telling 'Scan to PC' is disabled', then 'Scan to PC is enabled', and that popup window has to be closed manually.

- Rest of the notifications: same that before.

So, I'd like to avoid that annoying popup window to appear, without changing anything else.

Thank you.

I will try by removing the printer software and then reinstalling it, as you say, as soon as possible.

I'll be back when done.
