Hello,
I have just received a HP Officejet Pro 9720e and its working fine on my iPhone, iPad & MacBook but not on my Windows 11 computer. I have installed the HP Smart App (that's how I set up this printer on this computer) and its showing fine when I look in Settings -> Printers but when I go to to any application (e.g. Microsoft Edge or Adobe Acrobat Pro) no printers are listed, not even my old HP Officejet Pro 7720 (what I just replaced).
If anyone can help I would massively appreciate it!

@Indiaamayy, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It seems like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9720e is showing up in your printer settings but isn’t available in your apps. This could be due to a driver or configuration issue. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot:
Check the Printer in the Devices and Printers Menu
Press Win + R and type control printers, then press Enter. This will open the "Devices and Printers" window.
Ensure that your HP OfficeJet Pro 9720e is showing up here. Right-click on the printer and select Set as Default Printer if it’s not already.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
Go to the HP Support website and enter your printer model (HP OfficeJet Pro 9720e). Download and install the latest drivers for Windows 11.
You can also try using the HP Smart app to check for driver updates and make sure it’s installed correctly. Sometimes, reinstalling the app and drivers can help.
Check Windows Printer Settings
Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
Ensure your printer is listed. If not, click Add a printer or scanner and follow the prompts to add it manually.
You may also want to check if your printer has any issues in this section (it may show an error message if there’s a problem).
Set Printer as Default in the App
In apps like Microsoft Edge or Adobe Acrobat, check the Print dialog to see if the printer is listed. If not, try manually selecting your printer from the list or ensuring that the printer is set as the default.
In some cases, you may need to select "Show All Printers" or click on a dropdown list in the print dialog.
Run HP Smart:
- Download and run the HP Smart. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
- Refer: Use Diagnose & Fix in HP Smart to repair common printing issues (Windows, macOS) | HP® Support
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
