I started diagnosing an HP Laserjet M134 due to an unknown problem trying to set it up correctly on a M4 Mini attached to a FIOS network. It did work at one time. I ended up purchasing a new HP Laserjet Pro 3001dw because everything I read said  that it would work and the new printer was cheap. Now, I have TWO unusable printers after spending 6 hours today trying to get my 3001dw to work. Fortunately, I saved the box that Amazon shipped the latest printer in.

Can anyone tell me how to make my new printer work that doesn't require me to hunt down a Verizon engineer? If not, can someone steer me towards other Laser printers that are known to work with FIOS?

Attaching how? Wired or Wireless? If wireless, you will probably have to configure the 2.4ghz radio channel in the router with a unique SSID and only allow the printer to connect to the 2.4Ghz channel. The WIFI chips used on printers are usually 2 or 3 generations behind current technology and struggle to communicate.

Unfortunately, the online data sheet SPECIFICALLY states both frequencies are supported. You are the only

suggestion so I guess I bought junk and will contact Amazon for a refund.

My formerly new 3100 has a data sheet  that   specifically states support  for both frequencies.  The problem followed

2 HP printers for me and  my new Brother  printer is now working  fine. In my observation, Horizon broke something in their software and did not tell HP who don't have a  clue or simply don't care.

I  am thankful for receiving my ex-DEC/HP annuity so  I  hope somebody figures  this out.

According to the specs here https://support.hp.com/za-en/document/c07990577 this model only supports 2.4 Ghz communication. The rub is that often a 2.4 device will handshake but then the router tries to switch it to the 5Ghz channel, causing the dropout. This is especially problematic with older hardware being used with brand new, state of the art network equipment. My first suggestion by-passes this issue completely as the printer will not even detect the faster networks and will then connect reliably to the 2.4 channel. I have been through this many times with customers. The solution I provided should work.

Yes, the document you  mention does specify both frequencies. UNFORTUNATELY, the description that guided me

(https://www.amazon.com/HP-Laserjet-3101fdw-Wireless-Printer/dp/B0BJ194Z43) does not. There is More to

it than this  though because my  Laserjet M234 suddenly began having problems before trying to replace it with

the 3100.  My new Brother works fine and I'm giving my M234 to someone that is NOT on Fios.
