Hello everybody.
I am experiencing a frustrating issue with my built-in scanner.
Every time I attempt to scan a document, the following message comes up...
'Automatic Document Feeder is Empty
No Items were detected in the Automatic Document Feeder. Please place your originals into the Automatic Document Feeder and start the scan again.
I need this sorting as a matter of urgency. I have looked all over the internet, and none of the advice has worked.
[. OK. ]'
I have no idea what to do. I have searched online and found nothing.
... --- ... !!
Thanks,
Markus

@Markus1995, Welcome to HP Support Community!
I understand the inconvenience caused. I would recommend you to go through a similar post that speaks about the scanning issues after Mac OS update.
Also, try using the HP Smart App to scan. Refer to the document HP Printers - Using the HP Smart App (Mac) for help.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I just installed Catalina (10.15.2) last night and have the same issue. I use HP Easy Scan, and never had a problem before. It would default to the scanner bed if no paper was detected in the ADF. Now I have a small receipt on the scanner bed, and it won't scan at all, it keeps looking to the ADF. It will scan if I put a full size (letter) document in the ADF. You need to fix the functionality ASAP!!
I did look at the HP Smart Scan app, but the reviews there were terrible -- 1* for many. I also tried from my HP 3830 to scan from the printer to the MacBook Air using the printer control panel, but all it comes up with is an error that the computer has an issue. I'm thinking HP needs to update HP Easy Scan to work properly with Catalina.
UPDATE: I did just note a very small hyperlink in the moderator's post to a "similar post", where it states that Easy Scan is not currently compatible, and the fall back is Apple's image capture app. Very crude approach to resolve the problem short term.
