Automatic Updates scams

I have a HP Deskjet 3755. It printed a notice saying I need to go to >removed< to get automatic updates. Is this a scam?

The fact that the actual link entry was removed by our moderators is a pretty good sign that the claim is NOT from HP and is likely a scam attempt.

This is an old printer -- it's not going to get "updates".

The software is four years old as is the most recent firmware update.

You might be able to use the new HP App with the printer --

The HP App is the replacement for HP Smart (Windows).

The HP App is available under the single name "HP" from the  Microsoft Store

-- Be Aware –

Any HP application you install should be sourced from “HP”.

What?  Fakes have been discovered on at least one App Store –

Check who is providing the application >> “HP Inc.”

If you can’t tell, ask or use the Homepage method (if using Windows) to download and install the HP Smart application.
