I upgraded my Macbook Pro to Big Sur - OS 11. Now the LaserJet Pro P1102w will not print via USB and is not found wirelessly. The printer is on my printer list and shows as connected only with the USB connected. The doc is sent to the printer and leaves the queue as if it was sent to the printer to be printed - and nothing... no green blinking light indicating receiving packets of information & no document being printed. HP Smart app on Desktop and iOS (iphone) don't find the printer via USB or Wireless so cannot eprint. I cannot access the utility to get the MAC address to try to get to it via the web because the utility driver hasnt been updated for Big Sur. I have spent literally hours & tried every "fix" I could find.
Here is a detailed list of "fixes" that were tried and failed:
There was the malware message that it would damage my computer and I could no longer print.
I tried turning on the HP Office Jet 250 All In One - I was able to immediately scan and print wirelessly - no issues - so I know it is not my macbook pro or wireless connection. (FYI - after uninstalling HP I had to reinstall the printer drivers & software for the OfficeJet - no problems there).
- Per the fix for the P1102w, I uninstalled the hp drivers & software and then used the HP Easy Start to reinstall it. I could only reinstall via USB as it could not find the printer otherwise. There was a message that there was no software and to complete installation online. It sent me to an HP website to register the product.... it is already registered.
- I reinstalled the printer and went to print a document. The document left the queue and never reached the printer. It did not print, nor did the light blink indicating that it was receiving information. I tried word, pdf, and just a screen print... all the same. I then reset the printing system on my mac system preferences printer & scanner box and reinstalled it. Still the same.
- I tried to access the printer through the utility box on the printers & scanners through system preferences & the printer queue (goes to the same place - but tried both as a few discussions recommended this) and the utility box was missing. Also, under Options there is only the option to check Duplex and when I try to check the printer through Supply Levels there is a message that reads that no information is available.
- I tried going directly to the HP LaserJet Professional utility on the mac in order to try to access the printer through the web and got the popup that the utility will damage my computer and cannot be opened.
- I tried using both the generic printer software and the HP PCL4/5 listed in the driver list. Neither would work - it appears to print but nothing.
- I tried uninstalling & reinstalling again. Same result - it appears to print via USB but does not and is not found wirelessly.
- I tried downloading HP Smart - it could not find the printer either via wifi or the USB. There is a message that states there is no printer connected to the USB. This is odd since my mac can find the printer via the USB and the HP Easy Start finds it via USB (although it wont actually print and Easy Start states there is no software options that are automatically available)- so I know it isn't the USB cord.
- I tried manually downloading drivers 5.1 - the drivers would not open with an error message that my volume doesn't support the drivers.
- I tried my iphone to air print hoping to at least get that - airprint does not find the printer. I looked at the Airprint list from Apple. The HP LaserJet Pro P1102w is not listed as a supported device. I assume it is not and therefore airprint is not an option.
- The blue wireless light blinks for a while and then shuts off. I have a Netgear Nighthawk AX8 (RAX80) router. (The HP Office Jet 250 shows as connected to the router. The LaserJet does not - so not a router issue.)
- I cannot connect with WPS because my nighthawk router does not have the WPS button.
- I tried downloading the HP Smart app on my iphone. The printer did not appear. The printer is listed as one of the supported devices on the HP list. I am directed to join the printer's network, but it does not appear - even when the blue wireless light is blinking (however the HP Office Jet 250 shows in the wireless network list so it isnt an issue with my iphone).
- I tried unplugging the USB from both the laptop & printer - then didn't appear anywhere.
- I tried restarting my modem, router, the printer and the laptop.
- I tried getting support - my printer is out of warranty and I could not contact anyone. The virtual assistant is useless.
Now I am here - anyone have a fix that does not include one of the other fixes above that I found in the forums which were tried and failed?

Hi,
From your Downloads folder, please remove any existing copy of HP Easy Start first.
Next, try following below version of the HP Easy Start Utility:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/ASU/HP_Easy_St...
As soon as you open HP Easy Start, click the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software...
Read any warnings that display, and then click Continue. When prompted, type your administrator user name and password and follow the steps on screen.
Click Set Up New Device, and then follow the instructions to reinstall your printer with HP Easy Start and let me know if that may help
If the installation fails, open HP Easy Start again, from the HP Easy Start menu select Preferences.
Click on HP Easy Start.log and the log folder will launch, please send me a Private Message to ShlomiL with the log file attached.

Hi @BG06
As soon as you open HP Easy Start (before even confirming the EULA), click the top HP Easy Start menu (near the Apple icon) and select Uninstall HP Software...
Read any warnings that display, and then click Continue. When prompted, type your administrator user name and password and follow the steps on screen.
Click Set Up New Device, and then follow the instructions to reinstall your printer with HP Easy Start and let me know if that may resolve the problem.

As I mentioned - I had tried that step before (twice) but just did it again for good measure since there was a new OS 11 update... still the same. I send the file to the printer and it does not print nor does the light blink indicating receipt of data, but it leaves the queue as completed. Also, a test page will not print either.

Several of the more knowledgable community members have made similar suggestions and, for a few people, they seem to work. Apple has also posted new HP printer/scanner drivers. I've tried them all and they don't seem to work for me (with an HP DeskJet 1055 All-In-One). I do keep up with the most recent Apple updates and I'm fairly knowledgable about computers in general. I have no other suggestions for you. I've pretty much given up looking. Good luck.

I had the same problem after I installed Big Sur on my MacBook Air. I spent a whole day installing, uninstalling trying with the USB connected and without. AirPrint doesn’t work anymore although I previously had no problem. I have finally got it all working on my MacBook, iPhone and iPad. On You Tube I found the instructions to completely delete and reset my network connection, it works now from all my devices with HP Smart but it is so slow I could almost make a cup of tea whilst waiting for it to send a file and print.

Hello!
I'm dealing with the same problem after installing Big Sur on my Macbook Pro. I have my logs, but I can't figure out how to PM you with my logs. Would you be able to walk me through it, because when I click on the link embedded in the PM link, I have no options to send any messages.
