Had the printer for several years. Worked great up to a couple of months ago when I put in a new HP black cartridge. From then on the colour and black cartridges are about 1mm out in vertical alignment. I have swapped both the black and colour cartridges for new HP cartridges again. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all the HP software three times. The printer is fine mechanically. The cartridges both click very positively into place. No error messages when realigning. I have spent a huge amount of time doing everything I can find to try and fix things, but it is still exactly the same: the black prints about 1mm vertically above the colour. Annoying scarcely covers it.
If I was feeling cynical I would say you have corrupted the software to make me buy a new printer, but you wouldn't do that would you?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Does this happen while copying too?
Try a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Thanks for replying.
There is no firmware available for my model. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Full Software and Drivers from your website. Three times in fact. Still the same: black prints about 1mm above the colour. No mechanical problems. Cartridges click in positively.
The problem is not computer related as if I do a colour photocopy it is just the same.
I appreciate my printer is a few years old, but am happy to pay your high prices for cartridges as I do not do a huge volume of printing. But I want it to work correctly.

May be you can try another black cartridge to check.

I am sick to death of going round in circles with your useless so-called help. I have installed your PC Hardware Diagnostics program. I restarted laptop and ran it. It then stops on "only HP devices supported" with my HP Deskjet F4580 plugged in with USB and on. No help at all. Your virtual agents are a complete waste of time. HP printers and me will soon be going our separate ways. I have wasted hours on this, for what must be a simple thing to fix.
