Hp Envy 5055
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hi I updated my Mac software to the Catalina the other day and replaced both my color and black ink cartridges for the Envy 5055 printer. The color cartridge is reading but the black cartridge that is brand new keeps telling me to renew and reinstall. I have done a hard reset. I have cleaned the printer as suggested multiple times by HP and neither has worked. Please help. I need my printer to work.

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

 

Also, I would recommend you follow the steps from the document HP Inkjet Printers - Ink Cartridge Errors.

This looks like a hardware issue.

 

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
