I was in the process of setting up a new printer and in the middle of setting it up the screen turned blue, shows the power symbol, and the code DD000F58. I have power cycled by unplugging and holding the power button down for 20 seconds and plugging it back in and it still shows the error screen.

HP support told me to return it because it was defective.  Anyone having this issue, if you have the blue screen with an error code, you obviously can't do anything from there. You can't access the printer to update the firmware or do any sort of hard reset at that point. Returning it is your only option.

Hi @amousey,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're encountering an error on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4101fdn printer. The error code DD000F58 indicates a firmware-related issue. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  1. Update Firmware:

    • Visit the HP support website for your printer model.
    • Download the latest firmware update for your printer.
    • Follow the instructions provided by HP to update the firmware. This process often involves copying the firmware file to a USB drive and then updating the printer from the control panel.
  2. Perform a Cold Reset:

    • A cold reset can sometimes resolve firmware issues.
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer.
    • Wait for about 30 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power cable.
    • Turn on the printer.
  3. Factory Reset:

    • Be cautious with this step, as it will reset all settings to their factory defaults.
    • From the printer control panel, navigate to the "Service" or "Support" menu.
    • Select the option for a "Factory Reset" or "Restore Factory Settings."
    • Confirm the action and allow the printer to reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have this same problem and none of the recommended fixes work.  I have tried wired, wireless, hp print and Scan Doctor.  Nothing works. The computer can't find the printer to update the firmware.  Can you please help?

I cannot update the firmware due to the computer being unable to find the printer and also cannot do a factory reset as it is a blue screen and cannot do anything on the printer touch screen and fix doctor doesn't work either due to it not being able to find the printer even though it is clearly on. So any more advice on this would be appreciated.

I see there was no response to your enquire.  I have the same issue.  I cannot do a hard reset or update firmware as all I have is the blue DD000F58 screen.  Those suggestions seem rather silly when you can't do anything with the DD000F58 error screen.  That must be why they didn't respond.  I guess it just means return the printer?

Same failure here.  Installed the printer on Sunday (12/10/2023), worked fine until this morning (Tuesday, 12/12/2023) when it threw up the blue screen (who knew HP also has a BSOD??!!) with the power icon and hex code DD000F58.

As others have said, the suggested fixes are canned responses that don't apply here at all, as the touch screen is inoperable, and no sequence of powering down, unplugging, etc., has any effect.  And they apparently don't have a method of manually installing a firmware update (or maybe they do, but it's a secret that they don't want the public to know).

That support person is a jerk, in the sense that s/he never bothered to talk to the developers before responding.  And the company can't be bothered to respond with other troubleshooting methods.  Or, perhaps the printers are now truly bricked and they hope people will sit on their hands and then not be able to return them.  Mine's going back into the box as soon as I press "Post"....

That is what I did and I made sure updates was turned to manually so I didn't have this issue again.

Oooohhh, yes, maybe their auto-update of the firmware bricked thousands of printers across the planet.  !!!

Good idea to turn that off.  One of the backup printers here is a Brother, and I just checked its firmware... it's dated Dec 10, 2002 (I think I bought that one in 1997).  🙂

Have the same issue.   Not able to access via wireless connection, nor via wired connection.   Blue screen prevents any access to printer control functions.    Will be taking printer to local HP service (Best Buy).   If they can't fix the issue, will be returning printer.     Very disappointing.
