Hi @TC187,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your DeskJet 2800e has a flashing blue light, and the printer isn’t staying connected to Wi-Fi. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check what the flashing blue light means
A blinking blue light means the printer is not connected to Wi-Fi.
It’s either trying to connect or waiting for setup.

Restart the printer and Wi-Fi router
Turn the printer off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
Restart your router as well to refresh the network connection.

Move the printer closer to the router
Keep the printer within 1–1.5 meters of the router during setup.
Weak signals can cause constant blinking and failed connections.

Run Wireless Setup Mode again
Hold the Wi-Fi and Cancel (X) buttons together for 3 seconds.
This resets wireless settings and puts the printer back into setup mode (light will blink).

Use the HP Smart app to reconnect
Open HP Smart → Add Printer → choose the DeskJet 2800e.
Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted.

Check that your Wi-Fi meets requirements
Ensure you are connecting to:
– 2.4 GHz network
– WPA2 or WPA3 security
Avoid 5 GHz-only networks, guest networks, or VPNs.

Try using the WPS method (if supported)
Press the WPS button on your router.
Then press the Wi-Fi button on the printer.
The blue light should turn solid once connected.

Confirm the light after setup
Solid blue = connected successfully.
Flashing blue = still not connected.

I hope this helps.
