Bought a used printer that won’t let me set it up

Hello! I bought a printer off Facebook marketplace and it was their grandma’s old printer which she had because her grandma passed away I’ve tried everything to set it up but I believe because she has it enrolled in the HP smart ink or whatever I can’t do that and I was wondering how to erase all the data because the factory default doesn’t work and I would like to set up this printer.

If the cartridges in the printer are instant ink cartridges you would need to replace them with standard retail cartridges. If you wish to subscribe to instant ink, you will need to contact instant ink to see if there is a way they can cancel the old information, it is not stored on the printer, it is stored at HP and linked by the serial number of the printer.
