HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I set up the new HP printer according to instructions. Will not print from HP Desktop or HP Laptop.  When I select print, the printer makes noises as though it is about to print out a page and then it just goes silent with nothing printed. I have run all the troubleshooters and talked with the virtual assistant for 2 hours. Still nothing.

Hi @Hane65

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e is experiencing a frustrating issue where it starts the printing process but stops without completing it.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Step 1: Check Printer Status

  1. Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to your computer or network.
  2. Verify that there are no error messages or blinking lights on the printer’s control panel.

Step 2: Update Printer Drivers

  1. Visit the HP Support page for your printer model. Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support
  2. Download and install the latest drivers for Windows 10 (32-bit).
  3. Restart your computer and printer after installing the drivers.

Step 3: Clear Print Queue

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click on your printer and select See what’s printing.
  3. Cancel all pending print jobs by selecting Cancel All Documents.

Step 4: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Step 5: Test with a Different File

  1. Try printing a different file or document to rule out file-specific issues.
  2. Save the file in another format (e.g., PDF or DOCX) and attempt to print again.

Step 6: Update Firmware

  1. Check for firmware updates on the HP Support page. Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support
  2. Install the firmware update and restart the printer.

Step 7: Use HP Smart App

  1. Download the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store.
  2. Add your printer to the app and use it to print a test page.
  3. Follow any troubleshooting steps provided by the app.
