I have a HP Officejet Pro 9015e that someone gave me free but it’s used. Trying to set it up but at getting the first error of needing the cartridges that came with the printer then it changes to showing my yellow cartridge is missing or damaged. I tried switching the yellow cartridge with an extra cartridge that came with printer from original User but nothing happening. Doesn’t give me an option to exit the error screen either.

Hi @Britz317,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding cartridge errors on the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Verify Cartridges:
- Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges. The printer may not recognize non-genuine or refilled cartridges, and this can cause error messages.
- Check that the cartridges match the ones specified for your printer model. Incorrect cartridge models might not be recognized.
Inspect Cartridge Installation:
- Open the cartridge access door and carefully check each cartridge to ensure it is properly seated and installed.
- Remove the yellow cartridge and reinstall it, ensuring that it clicks securely into place.
Clean Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Remove the cartridges and gently clean the copper-colored contacts with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
- Allow the contacts to dry, then reinstall the cartridges.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power outlet, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Sometimes a simple reset can resolve errors.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Update to the latest firmware using the HP Smart app or through the Embedded Web Server if you are able to access it.
Use a Full Set of Cartridges:
- If possible, install a complete set of new, genuine HP cartridges. Sometimes using cartridges from multiple sets can cause recognition issues.
I hope this helps.
