Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Don't recall the last time I used the Scanner, but I just tried. I had the LASTEST drivers installed. So I deleted everything and re-installed. Get a window that says it can't find an HP Imaging device. I can use it as a PRINTER and can print pages. Just can NOT scan.

The INSTALL could NOT find the printer by itself, but when I entered the IP Address it DID find it?

Control Panel Devices and Printers does see the Printer:

Tried using the HP Print and Scan Dr., it did find it??? However it reports errors....

It too sees the printer at the correct IP Address, and then I ran the SCAN FIX:

I did TRY the power stuff suggested, no help?

So I skipped it... Device Status DID report I had non-HP Cartridges in it which I also skipped. Windows (WIA) Scan did seem to start a scan, then it got down to the FRONT PANEL TEST and failed:

The above popped up.... I've DONE all that too, more than once.

At a LOSS here? It WAS working under W10, but I'm sure that was before the W10 Aniv. Update and some others after that.

Ideas?

Well, this morning it worked fine installing other than the install could NOT find the Printer IP Address, but once I entered it it worked fine.

What I did first was try my wife's PC that also had the W10 Aniv. Update, but her PC is a Pro vs. my Home version.

At first she could NOT even access the printer at all. Uninstalled and reinstalled fine, even found the IP Address by itself??? Hmm... and then tested and she can scan AND print to it? It must be my PC then?

She did mention she got a NEW MS Update this morning too but I didn't think much about it?

So back to my PC and uninstall printer and when the PC was rebooting I got an MS update as well. They were Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3199986) and Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3197954) as well as a Security Update for Adobe Flash.

Now tried the Install again... still did NOT find the printer so I entered the IP Address. Worked!!! Tested and I can scan and print?

I still don't know what happened here? Oh well, it worked.

Hello @IrvS – Greetings!

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.

Glad to know that the issue is fixed after updating the system updates. I would also suggest you use HP Scan and Capture application if you ever encounter issues while scanning in your Windows 10 system. HP Scan and Capture is a simple application that captures photos or documents from an HP scanning device or your computer's built-in camera.  These images can be previewed, edited, saved, and shared to other applications as well.

Go to http://hp.care/2bUVkrw to download and install the Windows Scan and Capture app.

Visit us again if you have any concerns! Thank you!

Cheers 🙂
