I have a fault that is almost identical to the one here: CAB file in Windows XP driver installation for HP M255DW has... - HP Support Community - 8238151, except with different HP Printer. (Printer is compatible with Windows XP SP3, which is why I purchased it).
PC that was running Windows XP with Service Pack 3 installed. I tried to install the print drivers, but received the following error message during the installation:
The digital signature for your software could not be verified. To fix, please connect the Internet or run Windows Update and restart the device install.
The PC in question cannot be connected to the internet, and I cannot run Windows Update on it. I tried both the full driver version as well as the basic driver version for the laser printer with the same results.
The PC is not connected to the internet. Being XP, I really wouldn't want to connect it anyway.
I think it should be possible to export updated certificates from a Windows 11 system, and import them to the XP SP3 system - I have actually done this, and the export/import does work, but the same error is occurring.
Another idea is extracting the .CAB file manually to see if this perhaps works around the issue.
