HP Deskjet 3510

Both myself and my friend have an HP Deskjet 3510 printer.  My friend has an Windows XP Computer that she would like to connect her printer to, but she cannot download the driver from the website due to her computer being older and sluggish.  I know that HP doesn't offer drivers on CDs much anymore, but are there still SOME drivers you can still get on CD these days especially for the HP Deskjet 3510 printer for XP operating system?   If there is no CD option, how should we best download the driver and install the driver to her machine?  I know we would want to use a USB drive, but there are some concerns we have about a potential virus getting loaded on her older XP machine since HP doesn't support that operating system any longer and her virus protection no longer supports XP either.  Any tips for us to get that driver downloaded safely?  Thank you so much!

@SheHasart,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

HP no longer provides driver CDs for most printers, including the HP Deskjet 3510. Since Windows XP is an outdated and unsupported operating system, HP has also discontinued driver support for it.

Is there anything else that I can assist you with?

Thank you for your response.

Just to clarify, when you say that HP has also discontinued driver support for XP,  what do you mean?

When I go to the drivers page, I see drivers available for 32 bit and 64 bit XP for the DeskJet 3510 printer.

In fact, for the DeskJet 3510 printer, I see the same file available for all the operating systems.

Will we be able to use this driver for my friend's XP computer?

See here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-deskjet-3510-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5157460

Since XP is more vulnerable to viruses, now that it is not supported by Microsoft any longer, do you have any suggestions on how we would get that driver onto her computer safely?

I was just thinking we would use a USB drive to download the driver to and then install it on her computer.

Just a heads up,  there are some MAJOR  bugs going on with HP's website right now, just recently.  I had no issues a couple weeks back.  But today and yesterday, I see two MAJOR issues:

1) I cannot even pull up HP.com from the URL field.  I get this message when I type Hp.com in the URL field:

Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Size of a request header field exceeds server limit.

However, when I search for "HP" in Google, I can click on the HP website from there, and it opens just fine.  This URL works for me:  https://www.hp.com/us-en

But typing hp.com does not pull up HP's website.

2) When I go to search for a driver on HP's website, there are major issues with the HP support page at this URL: https://support.hp.com/

The page keeps refreshing over and over and each time it refreshes, it changes the language of the text on the page to another language.  I have seen it change the text to something that looks like Japanese or Chinese to something that looks like Arabic to something that looks like Russian.  Also, the HP website keeps re-directing me to another page, without me clicking on anything.

I had to retry using this page about 5 times for it to finally stop refreshing and changing the language on me.  I finally got to where I needed to go.

Please escalate this issue!  If you are not the right person to talk to, please tell me who to go to.  Thank you!

I'd like to help my friend to get her printer working with her XP computer and these bugs are making it quite difficult to even use the website.    I would be happy to show these issues LIVE  to someone if that helps solve the bug.

Hi @SheHasart

(1) Connect a USB cable between Deskjet printer and computer:

(2) Download and then install Basic driver available in HP Support page:

(3) ...and about HP Support pages they are going under maintenance these days and sometimes are failing 🙄, sorry this is not in my hands,  this could take at least 2 days when the maintenance is completed.

The problem here is that my friend's XP computer is very slow and it cannot even get to the page to download the driver for the printer.

Why do you think Asfiya03 said that HP has also discontinued driver support for XP.  What did they mean?

Do you think it is safe for us to download the driver from the HP website and then upload it to her XP computer via USB drive?  Any potential of her XP getting a virus by us doing this?

Hi @SheHasart

Ok, then you can download driver and copy to a USB drive to install in your friend´s computer.

There is no danger in doing so, because that driver is coming from HP webpage.

And about the discontinuation of drivers, there are some policies that they need to follow

and that is why they cannot provide any support.

But as long as the drivers are there you can download and use them.
