HP Envy 5542

We bought tricolour and black CALIDAD ink cartridges(#62) —apparently compatible— for our HP ENVY printer 5542. The tricolour cartridge seems to work fine but the black cartridge is just not being accepted by the printer. How do we troubleshoot? Cheers

I see that you have ink issues on the printer, let us try to isolate and resolve the issue-

 

Update the printer firmware-

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

 

The third-party ink cartridges will work. But there are many cartridges in the market which are refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it's not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.

Our printer has the latest firmware and it unfortunately did not resolve the issue. Will contact the cartridge manufacturer then and hopefully, will get somewhere. Thanks for the response! Much appreciated
