Have new HP 27” sv monitor and new 2019 MacBook Air. FIrst tried to connect Monitor to Air via HDMI cable into HDMI port on USB-C adaptor. No signal. then added in HDMI to Male USB-C adaptor, recommended by vendor as The Right One, connecting monitor to Air via same adapter. No signal. Then I tried USB-C dongle with high def/speed HDMI port Iin one USB-C port on MB AIR-connecting 27sv on HDMI cable plus vendors RIght One adapter HDMI to USB-C port on dongle. No signal. Then eyes crossed and brain shorted out trying to balance and figure out all possible options with USB-C, Thunderbolt, USB-3, HDMI, HDMI to USB-C adapter,and...... After time out to resurface, found that USB-C adapter probably was 2018 model, not the newer, spiffier, less user friendly, positraction rear axle and fuel injected 2019 model. Now things are starting to get expensive in addition to complex. Saw on Amazon and BEst Buy other dongles that claim to be The Right ONe. Disconnected all but power in, plugged in 27sv via HDMI with HDMI to USB-C adapter to second and last port on MacBook Air and presto, signal and life after digital drowning. However: now there are no ports left for dongles let Alone external backup, gizmo for trackball, USB printer connection forHP Envy when it decides not to be wireless for a while, and more. So before I buy yet another dongle or adapter for this tightwad MacBook Air 2019, I thought I’d better ask: is there a way to dongle connect teh 27sv to the Air adn if so, which of all The Right Dongles really is THe Right One? All very important, all spiffing aside: is for wife who has macular retinal degeneration and this 27” monitor, decided upon after days of comparing and looking, is of immense help. But not if I cannot connect it and a bunch of other mostly USB-2 devices all at once.
