Can HP Easy Start be loaded on Windows 8.1 ? It will download and start the install, then just stops, but the loading indicator just keeps spinning for days. I am on an HP 15 TouchSmart Laptop.

@writer351, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

To assist you better, what model printer are you using?

Refer to this document to know how to find the Product Name or Product Number.

You will also have an option to download the full-feature printer driver on the HP Support site. Try installing and check if this helps.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

the full-feature printer driver has no better luck.  HP Smart for Windows hangs up on  Connected printing services and does not install for HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e.  Makes scanning impossible to use.

Hello @tualatin

We’d hate for you to be stuck with a product, which does not work. We are here to help you with it.

Let's perform a root-level reinstallation of the driver and check if the issue persists.

Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers:

• Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP printer entries and uninstall them.

• Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.

• Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.

• Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

• Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer-related folders & files.  To reinstall, click here.

Keep me posted.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Click the “Yes" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping.
