HP Envy 6555e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was able to easily set up my new Envy 6555e to wireless devices via the HP Smart app.  However, I am not able to connect my PC with Windows 10 via USB (no wireless capability on the PC).  I downloaded the HP Smart app onto my PC.  It seems like the printer wants to be either wireless or USB, not both simultaneously.

@Jeff516, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Envy 6500e Printer via Wireless and USB!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The HP Envy 6500e printer can be set up to connect with devices using both wireless and USB connections. However, it appears that you are facing issues connecting your PC via USB while maintaining wireless connectivity.

Steps to Connect Printer via USB:

Ensure Wireless Connectivity: If you've already set up the printer to connect wirelessly via the HP Smart app, your devices can communicate with the printer without any issue.

Connect via USB:

  • Since the PC lacks wireless capability, use a USB cable to connect the printer directly to the PC.
  • Download and install the necessary drivers from the official HP website to facilitate the USB connection (HP Support & Drivers).
  • The HP Smart app on your PC will help manage settings and print tasks when the printer is connected via USB.

Check Printer Settings: Make sure the printer is set to recognize both connection inputs. It might default to one type if there's a conflict.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
