HP Deskjet 2549 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Printer is connected via usb cable as l do not have wi-fi.

It still works fine just as a printer and l can still copy, but now, that is about all.

As of today, when l try to access my printers control panel to check print levels, scan , change parameters etc, all l now get

is a message with three options saying either connect a new printer (usb), convert to wireless, or add new software.

To get to the control panel, l used a supplementary application HP_DJ2540. Tried re-installing this but the same thing happens. Any ideas?
