I posted this earlier but the suggested solution did not work.
I have a Jaserjet Pro MFP M281CDW printer and its firmware upgrade was interrupted. The printer console says "Resend Upgrade" but it does not upgrade when the firmware was upgraded manually using a USB cable. A smiley showed on the computer suggesting it was completed.

Hi @nm1011,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the issue you're facing with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw ("Resend Upgrade" message) suggests the firmware upgrade was incomplete or corrupted. Here's a more detailed guide to resolve the problem:
Steps to Resend the Firmware Upgrade
Check Firmware File:
- Download the latest firmware for your printer from the HP support website.
- Verify the downloaded file is correct and not corrupted.
Use HP Firmware Update Utility (USB):
- Ensure the printer is connected directly to your computer via a USB cable.
- Disable any antivirus software temporarily (as it may interfere with the process).
- Run the firmware update utility as an administrator:
- Right-click on the firmware update file.
- Select "Run as Administrator."
Force Update via Firmware Recovery Mode:
- Power off the printer.
- Hold down the Wi-Fi button (or Cancel button if no Wi-Fi button) and turn on the printer.
- Keep holding the button until "Firmware Update" or "Ready to Download" appears on the screen.
- Run the firmware update utility on your computer again.
Check for Driver or Communication Issues:
- Ensure your USB cable is functioning correctly and connected directly (not through a hub).
- Update your printer drivers to the latest version.
Try a Different Computer:
- Perform the firmware update on a different computer to rule out issues with your current system.
If the Problem Persists:
Attempt a Cold Reset (Restore Factory Defaults):
- Turn off the printer.
- Hold down the Cancel button while turning the printer back on.
- Continue holding until the printer displays "Cold Reset" or "Restore Factory Settings."
- Once reset, attempt the firmware update again.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you Gaya1239! Appreciate your help with the issue. I have tried the solution but it does not work. One of the reasons may be- the printer should be in a "ready" state. However the screen is stuck with "Resend Upgrade" message that does not go away. What I have read from this forum is that during the latest firmware upgrade, the printer can get bricked and the suggested solution appears to be replacement of the T6B082-6001 board . This is a fault of HP that is not being addressed. Can you imagine a working printer rendered useless just because the latest firmware corrupts the board? I have been using HP printers all my life but this incident would affect my future purchases.

Thank you @Gaya1239 for trying to help. I reached out to HP support and they say the printer is out of warranty- which is accurate. However, I would not have this issue if this incompatible Firmware was not pushed into the printer. I just don't understand why HP would not address the issue they created to begin with.
If this is not resolved, a fine printer would be disposed of unnecessarily... I wonder what HP's sustainability division has to say about this....
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
