Does this mean there's no point trying anymore ? I guess I can live without scanning as long as I can print but ....

Hi,
Great for letting me know.
Please unplug the USB, from Devices and Printers right click teh printer icon and select Remove Device.
Next run and follow the following patch:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL40390/oj-98352-1/HPAMDC50PATCH.exe
If the installation now opens follow the steps on screen, else launch the installation again after running the patch.
Please let me know,
Shlomi

Hallelujeh ! that worked... thanks so much. Took about 40 minutes to install everything, but I am now able to scan via the "Centre de Solutions" (I'm in france) ... Does this mean I can now remove all those other things I downloaded (AIO_CDBNonnet_Full_Win_WW_130_141, and sp82049)?
Many thanks @ShlomiL for your dedication to finding my solution !
@Dragon-Fur thanks as well !
I was pleasantly surprised to get all the help I got; so many forums where you DON'T get answers.... really appreciate the two of you coming to my old printer's rescue.

Great to see your scanner is now up and running @magill!
You may remove both files from your PC indeed as the full feature software is now installed and running.
Cheers,
Shlomi
