I have been having lots of issues recently with HP Smart for MacOS (current installed version 13.8.1).  It can't seem to remember my HP printer I installed although MacOS sees it on my home WiFi network and recognizes it as connected.  The printer network self test passes, too.  It seems each time I restart my computer, HP Smart asks me to add my printer or if it remains installed, it is unable to connect to it.

 

I uninstalled and reinstalled HP Smart.  I noted that a new Firmware update is available for my printer, but I receive the error message below from MacOS:

 

“HP Firmware Updater” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.  This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.
