HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw

I can't print any longer from my iMac running MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1 or MacOS Sequoia 15.3.

After installing HP Easy Start, the driver installation process completes successfully, but printing via USB fails. Computer is connected to printer via USB, but I'm getting a prompt 'Unable to communicate with the device'. I've tried restarting computer, restarting printer, nothing helps. What could be up? Does the printer no longer work with the latest MacOS?

Update Printer and Mac Firmware

Update or Reinstall the HP Smart App

  • If downloaded from HP.com:

    1. Delete the app by going to /Users/Username/Library/Application Support/HP Smart.
    2. Remove HP Smart from your Applications folder.
    3. Reinstall the app from the Mac App Store.
  • If downloaded from the Mac App Store:
Go to the App Store and check for updates to the HP Smart app.

Add Your Printer Using AirPrint

To ensure your printer is set up correctly for AirPrint:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Check if your printer appears in the list:
    • If listed: Select the printer, click the minus (“-”) sign to remove it, then click the plus (“+”) sign to re-add it and ensure AirPrint is enabled.
    • If not listed: Click the plus (“+”) sign, select your printer, and continue.
  3. Ensure "AirPrint" or "Secure AirPrint" appears under the Use or Print Using menu, then click Add.
  4. Try printing a document or photo by selecting File > Print.
