I own an HP OfficeJet Pro 8030 and it's been on my hp account for years. Recently, I purchased a new laptop and logged into my hp suppport assistant. My laptop and my monitor are on my account, but my printer is no longer on my account. When I try to add it, it says the printer is on another account - but I do not have another account. How can I fix this?
Thanks in advance!

Hi @Abigail87,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8030 printer not being associated with your HP account after purchasing a new laptop, you can try the following steps to resolve the problem.
- Verify Account Details: Double-check that you are using the correct HP account credentials. Make sure you're using the same account that your printer has been linked to previously.
- Reset Printer Connection: On your HP OfficeJet Pro 8030 printer, navigate to the settings or network menu. Look for an option related to "Web Services," "HP ePrint," or similar. Disable and then re-enable these services. This can help refresh the connection with your HP account.
- Printer Email and Claim Code: Some HP printers use an email address or claim code to connect to your account. Check if your printer provides a claim code or email address associated with it. You might need to input this information when adding the printer to your HP account.
- HP Smart App: Install the HP Smart app on your new laptop. This app often simplifies the process of adding and managing HP devices. Open the app, sign in with your HP account, and follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer.
- Remove Printer and Re-Add: On your new laptop, go to the "Devices and Printers" section in the Control Panel. Locate your printer, right-click on it, and select "Remove Device" or "Delete." Then, go through the process of adding the printer again.
- Factory Reset the Printer: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8030 printer. Keep in mind that this will reset all settings on the printer. Consult your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
Remember to document any important settings or configurations on your printer before performing a factory reset, as they will be erased during the process.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Alden4,
I went through all these steps and when I reset my printer, it no longer connected to my wifi and I had to connect it with an ethernet. I again was able to add the printer to the computer and to HP smart, but again I was told in Hp support assistant that the printer's serial number is already associated with another account. It seems to me that the issue is on HP's end, and not on my end, as I have no way of removing this printer from whatever account HP thinks it's registered to.

Alden4,
When I submit my information, I am asked to post my question here or use support assistant. As outlined above, I cannot use support assistant. If I can't get help here, and I can't use support assistant, is there a number I can call? Otherwise, there is literally no other option but this message board to get help.
Thanks,
Abi

Hi Abigail87,
I have the same problem. I also tried everything to add the printer. Today Feb 6,2024 I called the HP+ Support and the assistant could see my printer on my HP account but we couldn't see it on account dashboard online and we couldn't add it in my HP Support Assistant. I tried so many things and nothing worked and while I was chating with HP for help, the HP suggested me to contact them. The HP+ Support phone (800) 762-3485. Mon-Fri 6:00am-6:00pm , Sat 7:00am-6:00pm, USA - MST Time.
I hope you have better luck than me.
Good luck!
