I'm trying to configure the web services of my Laserjet MFP 227fdw printer and I haven't been able to do it because it won't let me add my printer to my HP Smart profile even though it's added to my Windows 11 and iOS apps. What can I do?

@AxelV, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
I understand you're having trouble adding your HP LaserJet MFP M227fdw printer to your HP Smart profile, even though it's already added to your Windows 11 and iOS apps. Let's walk through the steps to resolve this.
Check Printer Connection
Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer or mobile device.
- On the printer control panel, go to Network Settings or Wireless Menu to confirm the connection.
Enable Web Services on the Printer
Web Services must be enabled to use HP Smart features like HP ePrint or Instant Ink.
- On the printer's control panel:
- Tap Setup > Web Services Setup > Enable Web Services.
- If already enabled, try disabling and re-enabling it.
Sign in to HP Smart Account
Make sure you're signed in to the same HP account on all devices.
- Go to HP Smart or open the HP Smart app. HP Smart
- Sign in with your HP ID.
Add Printer to HP Smart Profile
- In the HP Smart app:
- Click Add Printer.
- Select your printer from the list.
- If prompted, follow the on-screen steps to claim the printer and add it to your HP account.
Troubleshooting Tips
- If the printer doesn’t appear:
- Restart your printer and device.
- Ensure no firewall or VPN is blocking the connection.
- Try adding the printer via the HP Smart Web Portal
I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Thank you for replying, unfortunately your procedure does not work for me. The way you told me is how I have tried but nothing, I can't add the printer to my account. I know the printer is good but it is not working properly. I take this opportunity to ask, every time I turn on the printer I have to manually connect it to my wifi? I ask because when I turn on the printer it tells me that it is connected to my network but however when I try to activate the web services it tells me that I have connection problems. Regarding the main problem, the printer appears to me in my iphone app where I am connected with my account, I can do things from that app, however, in my account from the HP Smart website it does not recognize the printer, so I cannot use the web services which would both save me time and give me convenience of use. If you need more data, here I am. Thanks in advance

@AxelV, Thanks for the detailed follow-up! It sounds like you're dealing with two related but separate issues:
Issue 1: Printer Not Appearing in HP Smart Web Portal
Even though your printer is visible and functional in the HP Smart app on iOS, it's not showing up in your HP Smart web account, which is preventing you from using Web Services like ePrint or Instant Ink.
Issue 2: Printer Loses Wi-Fi Connection on Reboot
You're also having to manually reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi every time you power it on, which shouldn't be necessary.
Let’s tackle both issues step-by-step:
Fixing Issue 1: Printer Not Linking to HP Smart Web Profile
This usually happens when the printer is not properly claimed to your HP account via Web Services. Here's how to fix it:
Step 1: Reset Web Services
- On the printer control panel, go to:
- Setup > Web Services Setup > Remove Web Services
- After it's removed, restart the printer.
- Go back to:
- Setup > Web Services Setup > Enable Web Services
- The printer will print an information sheet with a claim code (e.g., abcd1234).
Step 2: Claim the Printer on HP Smart
- Go to HP Smart Web Portal
- Sign in with your HP account.
- Click Add Printer > Enter the claim code from the info sheet.
Fixing Issue 2: Printer Doesn’t Stay Connected to Wi-Fi
This is likely due to the printer not saving the Wi-Fi settings properly or using a dynamic IP address that changes.
Step 1: Assign a Static IP Address
- Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer:
- Setup > Reports > Network Summary
- Note the current IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.105)
- Open a browser and enter that IP to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS)
- Go to Network > IPv4 Configuration
- Select Manual IP and enter the current IP, subnet mask, and gateway.
- Click Apply
This ensures the printer always uses the same IP and stays connected.
Final Checks
- Make sure your router doesn’t have MAC address filtering enabled.
- Ensure firmware is up to date: You can update it via the EWS or HP Smart app.
I hope this helps!
