HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e
Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks

I'v followed the instructions to setup my new printer, HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e, and I'm having problem with step 5 where it indicated to install HP Smart software from 123.hp.com. But, I've went online and was informed that my printer does not need any software. And the indicator says to complete setup get HP software. The blue light is blinking and this indicated that software is able to find my printer. Please help, and thank you!

Hi,

You would need to complete the setup via HP Smart first, on a compatible operating system, the printer is supported on macOS 10.14 or later and therefore you are getting issues:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-8030e-all-in-one-printer-series/38023433/docum...

You may be able to print with AirPrint but first you would need to setup the printer from a compatible device, either a Windows 10 PC, macOS 10.14 or later, Android (7.0 or later) or iOS (13 or later):

HP+ OfficeJet printers - Setup Using HP Smart App (Android, Apple iOS, IPadOS)

HP+ OfficeJet printers - Setup Using HP Smart App (Windows 10, MacOS)

Once setting up your printer with HP Smart from a supported device, try adding the printer with AirPrint to your Mac and check if that works, although not officially supported:

If you fail to print with the unsupported OS, I suggest upgrading your operating system to a later version.
