Hello,
my Deskjet suddenly stopped to work properly. Printing is not that important, but scanning is to me. It seems to start to scan, but then it stops. One time the first few inches were viewable in the preview window. I uninstalled and installed all programs, printers and drivers, tried HP doctor - on both my laptops - neither did improve anything. Copying somehow works, though in miserable quality (only a shade of red, but the whole document), thus the scanner clearly is not broken mechanically.
What can I do next?
I trust in Your ability to help me out.
Best regards
Roman

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
Even though you said, you already tried re-installing drivers,
I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:
1)In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2) Select your HP Printer
3) Select Uninstall
4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab
9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10) Select Ok
11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12) Close Devices and Printers
Once done, follow this link, install the full feature driver software. 🙂
Keep me posted,

Hi, as stated above, I did exatly that 2-3 times. It turned out, that the problem was the cable. When I changed it for another one, from an old External Hard Disk Drive, it miraculously worked again. Maybe add this to Your standard message (uninstall/install & follow that link) - the cable was not completly rotten, the laptop recognized the printer upon putting in the cable, but scanning etc. did not work properly.

Thank you for replying,
I'm glad to hear you found the solution you were looking for, however, there seems to be an issue with the scanning.
Just wanted to check few things:
Does that Scanner bulb light up?
Does the scanner bar move when you open the lid & press the copy button?
Have you checked if the unit can make a standalone copy? If ‘YES’ then it means the scan hardware of the All-in-One works fine.
Did you try to scan using HP Scan and capture App? If you haven't please click here for Instructions.
I would suggest you use HP Scan and Capture application to scan using your Windows 10 system. HP Scan and Capture is a simple application that captures photos or documents from an HP scanning device or your computer's built-in camera. These images can be previewed, edited, saved, and shared to other applications as well.
Let me know how it goes for further assistance!
