macOS 12.0 Monterey

Has anyone figured this out?  I have an older HP OfficeJet 5610 All-in-one printer that works totally fine with no problems.  It is definitely not ready to be another large piece of plastic in a landfill.  But I bought a new computer and can't find a printer driver anywhere!  My operating system is MacOS Ventura.

I looked at the list of Gutenprint open source Drivers recommended elsewhere, but the 5610 is not included on that list.  I've tried the Easy Start app, but it doesn't help because it can't find the driver either.  I even tried some 123.hp website I found in a search, but it felt like they were scamming me by trying to get me to download something that wasn't clearly from HP, so I don't want to try it.

To make it worse, I have tried entering the serial number into the HP website many times and it keeps saying it is an invalid serial number, so I can't even chat or speak to a live person.

I see random websites offering printer drivers, but none of them fill me with confidence.  It can't possibly be true that I have to stop using my fully-functional printer because of a software issue!?!?

Hi @BerkeleyMom

1. You may need to connect a USB cable from your printer to Macbook before the installation and also turn on the printer.

2. Then, please download and install  HP Printer drivers for MacOS from the next link:

3. And go to System Preferences > Printers then Add the printer.

* Click YES   to say thank you,

* Click Accepted Solution when question is answered.

Sorry, didn't like that the response above gave a link designed to look like it was from the apple website, but the actual embedded link was for some other website.  I am wary of installing software from unknown websites.

But that gave me the idea to search the Apple support site more and I finally found what I was looking for, and it worked!

Entirely on the official apple.com support site.
