I have a basic HP laser jet printer M11 Owe. It has been fine but just unstalled a new Virgin hub. Not it can’t be found why is this? Is this model now not available to install?

HI @ChrisML25,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet M11 (MFP M11) printer is no longer being detected after installing a new router or hub, it could be due to several reasons related to network settings, printer configuration, or connectivity. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you reconnect your printer to your Wi-Fi network:

1. Verify Printer’s Wi-Fi Capability

Ensure that your HP LaserJet M11 is indeed a wireless model and supports Wi-Fi connectivity. The M11 series typically refers to a monochrome laser printer which often may not have wireless capabilities. If it’s a basic model without Wi-Fi, you might need to connect it via USB or use a network print server to enable wireless printing.

2. Confirm Printer’s Connectivity

Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure the printer is powered on and has no error messages.

Check for Connectivity Issues:

  • If your printer has a display, check the network settings to see if it is connected to the network or if there are any error messages.

3. Reconnect to Wi-Fi

If your model does have wireless capabilities, follow these steps:

Reset Network Settings:

  • Turn Off the Printer: Power off the printer.
  • Unplug the Printer: Disconnect the power cord and wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug Back In: Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
  • Access Wireless Setup: Navigate to the printer’s wireless settings (refer to the user manual for exact instructions on accessing these settings).

Use the Printer's Control Panel:

  • If your printer has a control panel or display, use it to navigate to the wireless setup menu.
  • Select Wireless Setup Wizard or similar options.
  • Choose your new Wi-Fi network and enter the password.

Reconfigure Using HP Smart App:

  • Download HP Smart App: Install the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device from the HP website or your device’s app store.
  • Open the App: Launch the app and select the option to add a new printer.
  • Follow Instructions: Follow the app’s prompts to connect your printer to the new Wi-Fi network.

4. Check Your New Router’s Settings

Verify Network Configuration:

  • Ensure that the new router is properly configured and broadcasting a Wi-Fi signal.

Network Compatibility:

  • Check if your new router has any specific settings that might affect connectivity, such as network isolation or different Wi-Fi bands (2.4 GHz vs. 5 GHz).

Check Router’s Device List:

  • Log in to your router’s admin page and check if the printer is listed as a connected device.

5. Update Printer Drivers

Download Latest Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.

Install Drivers:

  • Follow the instructions to install or update the drivers on your computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
