Hello. I checked the other posts but it didn't help answer my question because my printer [personal information removed]. I read that the 4th, 5th, and 6th will tell me the age. As you can see, it is meaningless. This a HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 N911a.
I have had issues with this printer for months. It keep showing that I have issue with connection but when I check the program, there are no issue. It asked for proxy address but I have no clue. It been years since I last set this printer up. It shouldn't have proxy address because this is a home printer. The last few years or months had been wonky. If this printer is more than 10 years, does this mean that we need a new one? I am trying of this printer. It suck so bad. I feel that the quality isn't what it used to be.

Welcome to the HP Community.
Open your printer support website homepage.
Check your Expired Warranty status using your printer serial number.
Note the start date (Fall in 2013).
Based on that information, the printer is just shy of 8 years old (at this writing).
The printer series was introduced to the US market in September of 2011.
This series is one of the most popular and its lifespan has been reported to be exemplary.
That said, we are seeing reports in the Community:
Many of these older 8600 printers are no longer working as hoped.
Replacement is perhaps the best option.
Printer is likely just worn out - it is certainly sliding toward "vintage" age.
Even for an older device, it is best you do not post the serial number in our public website.
