HP Officejet Pro 8710
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have the HP Officejet Pro 8710 printer connected to network by wifi. I can use it by  mobile phone or chrombook. I try to set it up for my Windows 10 laptop. I run this file OJ8710_Full_WebPack_40.12.1161.exe to setup printer. This programe has defected the printer in the network but I always get the error 'Unsuccessful Network Installation, the device was unable to be installed over the network. I select the Wireless connection option when run the installation.

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are getting 'Unsuccessful Network Installation" error while installing the printer driver.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to automatically diagnose and resolve printer hardware and connection issues.

If your printer is not found on the Choose Your Product step, click My product is not listed for steps to connect the printer.

Try to print.

Perform root level uninstalltion to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download full feature driver from the HP website.

HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads to download the printer driver.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi, thanks for the help/answer. I have tried the steps but I am still having prolem running the setup/installation programe.

I have tried the following methods

- connect printer and laptop to network by WIFI, select the device (this printer)  found on network to install, the installation program has indicated the printer is unable to be installed over the network.

- connect printer directed by cable to network, the installation programs has also indicated the printer is not connected to network, even though it has detected the printer on network

- connect to laptop directed by USB cable, the installation program can't detected the connection

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

I understand the issue better now.

2. Touch Network Setup.

3. Touch Restore Network Settings. A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored.

4. Touch Yes.

5. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

Set up the printer on your wireless network with the wireless setup wizard.

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wireless).

2. Touch ( Settings ).

3. Touch Wireless Settings.

4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Protected Setup.

5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi, I have followed your steps to reset the network setting then ran the printer setup programae, I couldn't complete the setup programe as I was taken to website to register the product,  it didn't matter if i completed the registration or not there was no way to continue the setup process, I would get the pop message to inform me I have not completed the setup yet if I tried to close the registration website.

Please let me know if there is another way I can get the drivers without run the setup. In Control panel/device and printer, the printer is connected to network with the message  'driver is unavailable'.

thanks for your time and help

Check if that router bandwidth is set to 2.4GHz.

HP printer support only 2.4GHz.

You will have to log in to the router page to check this.

Hi, my router had 2.4 and 5 GHz turned one. I have turned off the 5 GHz and rerun the setup programe. I am still stuck at the last setup step. The setup programe took meto the website to register the product but I already registered it before, when I tried to close the website, i got the pop up saying the setup hasn't been completed. If there anyway I can skip the registration step as I had alreay registered it?

thanks,

Iris
