@MikeCaro13, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve the issue where your HP LaserJet Pro M118-M119 series printer is not being recognized by your PC:
Check Physical Connections
- If you're using a USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the PC.
- Try a different USB port or cable if available.
- If you're using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is connected to the same network as your PC.
Download and Install the Latest Drivers
- Visit the official HP support page for your printer: HP LaserJet Pro M118-M119 Drivers & Software
- Select your operating system and download the Full Feature Software and Drivers.
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
Use HP Smart App (Recommended for Easy Setup)
- Download the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store or HP Smart
- Open the app and click “Add Printer”. It will guide you through connecting and configuring your printer.

Check Device Manager (Windows)
- Press Windows + X → Select Device Manager.
- Look under Printers or Unknown Devices.
- If your printer appears with a yellow warning icon, right-click and choose Update Driver.
Restart Devices
- Power off your printer and PC.
- Wait 30 seconds, then power them back on and try reconnecting.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
