Product: Officejet Pro 7740
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64-bit)
I tried installing from the CD. I tried installing on-line. I tried downloading the basic driver and installing. I always get the same result, that it won't work with this OS, even though every process initially says that it can install on this OS.
Am I missing something?

Hi,
Installing on a server should be down using the same drivers but through the command line using MSIEXEC, not using a standard installation.
Follow below steps to install your printer on a server, see the Customize the installation section:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03351547
Notes:
- For any installation failure using the command line try adding an ENTERPRISE=YES argument
- On Windows Server 2008 R2, the Desktop Experience feature must be installed before plug and playing a USB.
- The Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is not installed by default. For scanning to work you must install the Desktop Experience Feature. The WIA service will then be enabled by default.
