Thank you for joining HP Forums.

This is a great place to get support, find answers to your technical queries.

I understand that you are facing issue with the installation, need not worry I'll be glad to assist you.

I suggest you download and run Microsoft troubleshooter on your PC.

Then, follow these steps to automatically repair issues including corrupted registry keys that block you from installing or removing programs.

Refer to this document to download the troubleshooter from Microsoft website.

Once done try installing the drivers.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Repair did not work.  Microsoft Trouble Shooter could find (identify) the Printer Software I'm trying to install.  I downloaded the software from the HP Website for an Officejet J4580 All-in-One Printer.  According to the HP website, it is for the Windows 10 (64bit) OS.

I have reduced the installation to the minimum fines, but get a fatal error: "C\User\Peter\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS4B9C\Setup\hpzpr140.exe"... and the installation stops and remove all the files it tried to install.

Thanks for the reply,

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Edit permissions for Users, Administrators, and SYSTEM

On the Windows taskbar, click Start.
Click My Computer.
Right-click System (C:), and then click Properties.
   NOTE:
If your drive is not System (C:), change to your drive name and letter.
Click the Security tab.
Under Group or user names, click Users.
Under Permissions for Users and the Allow column, check these boxes:
Read & Execute
List Folder Contents
Read
Click Apply.
Under Group or user names, click Administrators.
Under Permissions for Administrators and the Allow column, check the same boxes as you did for Users unless they are already checked.
Click Apply.
Under Group or user names, click SYSTEM.
Under Permissions for SYSTEM and the Allow column, check the same boxes as you did for Administrator and Users unless they are already checked.
Click Apply.
Click OK.
Click Yes on the Windows Security message box.
If you receive an Error Applying Security message, click Continue.
On the Windows taskbar, click Start, and then click Shut Down.
From the What do you want the computer to do? drop-down menu, click Restart and then click OK.

Then, try to install the HP printer software again using this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-j4500-j4600-all-in-one-print...

Tried several Microsoft tTrouble Shooters.  The "cab" file would not open (could not install) and any of the others I tried didn't find any problems.  Simply put, unless there is another basic drive for this printer, which I've been unable to find, nothing works.

My only last parting thought on the subject, my recent upgrade to Windows-10 has done me a "dirty deed" and my only salvation maybe to through away a perfectly good printer and buy a new one!

Again, all your suggestion - including using the "Built-In Drivers" I have tried, but nothing works!  I did check the list of Windows 10 compatable printer on the HP Website - my printer, the Officejet J4580, is on the accepted list, but me, as the layman, have not be able to get the printer instsalled.

Can you suggest whom I might be able to contact at HP (name and telephone number, and or a Supervisor or Manager) that can help me.  All my attempts to reach someone in the Officejet Department have failed.

Thank you again.
