HP Color LaserJet Pro M154a
Microsoft Windows XP

Dear All,

I bought a new printer with the HP Color LaserJet Pro M154a type, this printer is used to print reports from the Blood Hematology machine. The operating system used is Windows XP SP2 32bit because the Hematology Blood application program is run with the operating system. When I click Setup, the message box "HP-DQEX5.exe - Entry Point Not Found" appears with the details "The GetLogicalProcessorInformation procedure entry could not be located in the KERNEL32.dll dynamic link library". After a while the computer "Blue Screen".
What I have tried to do is:
1. Uninstall the old printer driver and the registry, try again and the same message box appears and "Blue Screen",
2. Install Net Framework 2.0, try again and the same message box appears and "Blue Screen",
3. Install Net Framework 3.5, try again and the same message box appears and "Blue Screen",
4. Try with another computer that is reinstalled into Windows XP SP2:
    a. Click Setup and the same message box appears but not "Blue Screen", but the computer immediately restarts,
    b. Install the basic HP Color LaserJet Pro M154a driver for Windows XP 32bit, and the same message box still appears but not "Blue Screen", but the computer immediately restarts,
    c. Install Net Framework 3.5 and Windows Installer 3.1, try again and the same message box appears but not "Blue Screen", but the computer immediately restarts.

But strangely, I tried to install the driver with another type of printer, the HP Color LaserJet Pro M252n and it worked. Though the datasheet of the two printers above mentioned that the Operating System is minimal is Windows XP SP3, but why the HP Color LaserJet Pro M154a printer driver was not successfully installed.

Please help.

Hi,

I would say that System Requirements exists for a reason, those are not listed just for fun.

The M154 software is much later and different than the M252 software, it requires services and processes which are missing on earlier service packs.

HP UPD would not be applicable, any workaround would not be applicable for plug and play.

For a network connection there might be some possibilities to try and get some print capabilities only, but a such would not apply for your printer as a USB only printer

You may try connecting a USB to your computer and then manually update it and select the installation CD path from within the device manager and check if it may somehow detect your printer and allow some basic printing, it may work or not but worth trying.

Dear Mr. ShlomiL,

Thanks for the explanation.
For the manual driver install method by connecting USB directly to the computer and selecting the CD path I have done, this also did not work.
I checked Device Manager to see other devices related to the printer that were not successfully installed, from which I checked one by one the Hardware ID and Compatible Id and downloaded it on the internet, all were successfully installed, but no HP Color LaserJet M153-M154 printer was installed in the Devices and Printers list.

Are there other handling instructions?

I personally cannot think of any other steps than updating your operating system to service pack 3 so you will be able to successfully install the printer drivers. This is required for a successful plug and play recognition.

Shlomi
