I am trying to install an old 6900 series HP printer onto Window 10 computer.
My problem is...in the "compatibility" tab, I have only choices of Windows XP (service pack one) or Windows XP (service pack two).
When I try to install with one of these, it just keeps telling me that it has to be Windows XP only.
How can I fix this?
This is for my sister, who did not like the new printers, so reverted back to her old PC and old printer.
I would, at least, like to get her PC up to date, but she won't use it, unless the old printer is on it.
I managed to get the old photo printing program on the PC, but can't find a way to put the printer on.
Can anyone help me?
I would appreciate any help.
Thank you

@LadyTaz63 I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Then, Click here to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it.
If the issue persists, please go ahead and install the windows built-in drivers:
If a full feature driver from HP is not available for your printer, you must install the built-in print driver. A full feature driver for one or more Windows versions is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website.
NOTE:
Where is the download button? The HP print driver is built into the Windows operating system or is installed through the Windows Update feature on your computer. You do not need to download anything from a website in order to print, scan, or fax.
See the Frequently asked questions in this document for additional information, including how to scan using this driver.

This only tells me how to remove the printer, not how to install it.
For compatibility, I need Windows XP or Windows 2000, but the only choice is Windows XP service pack 2 or 3, and it won't use this.
Do you have something that will allow me to install the HP 6900 printer? Is there a way to make it accept the Windows XP listed?

@LadyTaz63 This part of the same message I sent earlier covers the answers to both your questions on how to install it once removed and on what to do, if that doesn't work,
Let me know if that didn't help or if you need anything else.
Then, Click here to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it.
If the issue persists, please go ahead and install the windows built-in drivers:
