Hi
I've been using a HP Officejet 3835 all in one printer for several months now wirelessly to a Windows 10 64-bit computer, and recently started to get error messages where my computer could not connect to the scanner. The printer still worked fine, but it couldn't find the scanner. Occasionally I manged to get it to work again by running the HP Print and Scan Doctor, but that didn't always work.
I then decided to do a fresh install of the HP drivers. So I removed all drivers and downloaded the new driver set from 123.hp.com as was directed in the printer setup manual. Doing it wirelessly, I chose the full package install option and went all the way through to where it says 'Setup now complete' and 'Please register'. Went through the registration again and then linked to my current HP account, and then tried to close the window, but it kept saying setup was not complete. I could see that everything was registered and linked to me, but there were no other options to install or finish anything.
The printer icon appeared to install into my Start menu ok, but now when I select it, it pops up with a window to launch devicesetup.exe, which then gives me a selection to either connect a new device, reconfigure wireless settings or add more software.
Checking my installed printers and I can see that the printer has been installed, and I can print to it from the computer, but I now have no way of launching the scanner from my computer. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers several times, switching the printer on and off and rebooting the computer each time, but each time I end up back in the same situation with this device setup launch, with no way of viewing or working the printer independently to check ink states or scan etc.
What it seems to be installing is just the basic printer package each time rather than the full driver package, even though I have the latter selected.
I then installed the HP Smart App, which did allow me to connect to the printer and scanner and everything works ok, but it only gives me very limited scanner functions. I can no longer scan double sided for example, and double sided scanning is an important function for me.
How do I get the full driver package installed and working on my PC and break out of this devicesetup.exe loop?
Any help greatly appreciated because the printer is of very limited use to me now without the full scanner functionality.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to scan from your computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
Do you have the HP Scan and Capture software installed on the computer? If no, then download and install it from the below link and check whether you are able to scan.

Hi
Thanks for the feedback. It looks like I've finally managed to sort it, but in a really complicated way. I ran the HP Doctor numerous times previously and it always came up with all greens at the end, but when I clicked the HP icon to start the printer, I always still had that devicesetup.exe loop.
I finally connected the printer via usb and reinstalled the software again, and everything (Printer, scanner etc) worked fine on the usb. But then when I tried to link to the printer wirelessly, I went through the process, it told me to disconnect the usb, and then I got stuck in the devicesetup loop again.
I then removed all the drivers again and downloaded and installed the scanner only software from the HP website. Then I ran the HP Doctor again, and it asked me to make the scan only version my default printer, and then downloaded the full HP printer driver package. It installed that and that now seems to have given me back the full functionality again of the printer and scanner.
