Downloaded HP Smart to new Windows 11 computer. Connected HP Series 8020 printer via USB. Cannot open HP Scan - get message from HP Smart "Couldn't connect to Scanner" (either no scanner was detected or HP is not compatible). I have confirmed this printer IS compatible with HP Smart and it was working on the Windows 10 desktop I just replaced. Suggestions? Thank you in advance. 🙂

Hi,
Which printer?
Try this Solution:
- Download only this file: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
- Close all programs
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the msi.
OPTIONAL:
- Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
- Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
- Right-Click on "HPScan.exe" > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
Kind Regards
