I turned everything off and tried it again.  I got the same thing saying it couldn't be deleted.

When I try to delete the driver and driver package it still won't let me.......I notice a tab there for PORTS.  One of the other things you had me do wanted me to open a PORTS tab but I couldn't find it.  When I click on this port tab it says

LPT1: Printer Port     HP ENVY 5660 series

Should this be deleted?  I'm clueless as to what I'm doing.  Thanks for trying to help me.

Follow the steps in the below to change the port -

Go to Start and type Devices and Printers and press Enter. This will bring up the Printer window.

Control Panel Printer list

Right click the printer you want to update and select Printer Properties.

In the window that opens click the Ports tab.

About now I bet you wish you had never offered to help me.  I tried to follow your directions to change a port but when I got to the page where the pictures of my computer should be, its not there because I deleted it the other day.  So I did what I did the other day and typed in printui.exe /s and got to the PORTS tab.  All went well from there.  I'm not sure what changing a port is, but after I did it I tried again to delete the driver and driver package, but it still tells me it can't be deleted.  When the Wizard asked me for a printer name or ID I put in 192.168.1.10  Was that right? It seemed happy, but I'm wondering with the same numbers as before if I changed anything. Thanks again for trying to help.

Hi@mrsdac,

Are you able to print from your computer now?

HP Recommended

Jay, I'm still not printing.  If I ever get it running you'll be the first to know.  I decided this morning to start all over.  I connected wireless to the network and deleted things.  When I got to the part to delete the driver OR driver package I ran into problems.  Driver and package said I couldn't delete.  Just driver alone told me it was unable to remove HP 5660 seriesx64 type 3 user mode driver because it was in use.  ???  Before I could delete the driver, but not the driver and package.  My printer is still listed under PORTS tab ans LPT1.  I didn't add anything yet because I don't have everything deleted.

Once everything is removed, try and add your printer to a TCP/IP port.

Restart your computer and try uninstalling if any program is running in the background it will forced shut down when restarted.

I'M PRINTING...I never could delete the driver, but when ahead and installed the printer anyway.  It said it was unsuccestful.  So I tried installing using the windows built in driver and it works.  I'm not sure why or how things went different....I'm so happy, I was about to give up.  THANK YOU SO MUCH.  I COULD HAVE NEVER DONE IT WITH OUT YOU.
