Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I have an HP Officejet 6500 E710N-Z printer. I can't update the firmware. I downloaded the firmware file from HP.  However, it can't find my printer. I've tried using wifi and USB connections from printer to PC.  Also, I can't connect the printer to Web Services.  It asks for a proxy server and port.  I don't know how to find these data.  I've rebooted the printer, wifi, and PC.  I've tried using the EWS.  I have no trouble printer and scanning.  The printer shows on Control Panel and shows connected.

Thanks,  Mark

Hi Mark,

Please make sure you use the correct firmware for your printer model below:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/oj6500/OJ6500_E710n-z_R1621A.exe

Additionally, can you successfully print from your computer?

That found the printer, but said the update is not applicable.  My printer firmware is CIP1FN1110AR.  The HP website shows CIP1FN1621AR as the current update. Thanks

Thanks for clarifying.

Please launch the utility again, when it says Not Applicable Leave this window open.

Right-click the bottom Taskbar and select Task Manager.

Right-click on DeviceUpdate and select Open File Location.

Open EnterpriseDU.ini using Notepad (Right-click > Open With > Notepad)

Change VerifyDownloadID=1 to VerifyDownloadID=0 and press File > Save.

Return to the open firmware update utility dialog, Click Refresh and check for any difference.

Hi Shlomi,  That got the file to run, but, it fails to install update.  It says to turn printer off, then on, and run again.  I've done that and update still fails to install.  I've unplugged power from wall outlet, waited 60 seconds, plugged power back, and retried update.  Din't work.  Thanks

I found instructions to manually install the update using the command prompt and it completed the installation of the firmware. All is good.  Thanks for all the help.  Much appreciated. Stay safe.
