I have the exact same problem that was posted a few months ago.  My printer works fine in HP App, but when I go to "Manage HP account" it shows 0 owned printers and no option to add a printer, other than instructions which clearly don't apply.  One of the answers from an employee linked to a video...but the video was 7+ years old and, clearly, was dated.  I would like to get all the features out of my new printer, but this seems like an issue that should be able to be resolved.

We see thousands of questions posted in the Community every month -- something (that was) posted months ago might be relevant to what you seek -- Finding the exact post might take more time than its worth.  If you have a link to an HP Community post you want us to read, provide us the link.  Thanks for NOT posting links to third party websites.

Can you describe the instructions that you see "which clearly don't apply" ?

Next,

If I understand what you are asking, "Manage HP Account" might be a reference to your HP Smart / HP Connected account and the Print Anywhere feature.

Thank you for the prompt response.  I am having the exact same problem as is described in this post:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printers-Archive-Read-Only/How-to-add-printer-to-HP-App-My-Account/td-...

The screen shots are the same as I get, and the video referenced by one of your colleagues:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiR4YsKCeLU

is the video that is nearly 7 years old, and, as I mentioned, clearly not up to date--if you do what's instructed it just isn't correct.

there is a screen shot on the answer thread too, I get that also with no way to add a printer, I've tried to copy the screen shot from the OP.  so, anyway, I just wanted to add my printer to the webpage, as Simon wanted.

then shows me my account where I have 0 owned printers and no option to add.  Thanks.

@DinoDragon

OK -- Understood.

You situation is different.

The customer in that thread was never eligible to use Print Anywhere -- he has neither an eligible HP+ printer nor is his printer listed as one of the select non-HP+ printers that can use the Smart Advance features.

According to the documentation, your printer is listed as eligible for Smart Advance features -- Print Anywhere.

I don't know what is wrong with your setup but you need not be concerned about Simon's situation or a seven year old video.

====================================

If you have not done so, perhaps start over --

-- Mobile Device(s) where HP App is installed --

Remove the printer from the HP App

Uninstall the HP App

If you can stand it, switch off the phone / tablet, wait a minute, switch it back on.

Next,

-- Windows --

Remove / Hide the printer in the HP Smart application.

       Next,

  • Scroll down to Manage
  • Select Hide Printer

HP_Smart_Win_Main_Menu_12HP_Smart_Win_Main_Menu_12

---------------------------------------------------------------

Next,

Reset the HP Smart application -- The Reset action removes app data from your (Windows) account.

Open

Settings > Apps > Installed Apps

Search / Find HP Smart in the apps list

On the right side of the listing for the app, click the tiny "drop down arrow"

Open Advanced options > Reset the app

Next,

Restart the computer and the printer

Next,

-- Important --

To access the HP Smart Advance features, your HP+ enabled or eligible non-HP+ printer must be set up in the HP app with an HP account. For more information, go to HP printer setup (HP app).

As instructed in the Printer Setup document,

“Get” a new copy of the HP Smart application:

Microsoft Store or 123.hp.com - Printer setup from the HP® Official site

      Next,

  • Scroll down to Section Settings
  • Look for "Print Anywhere"

HP_Smart_Win_HP+_Print_Anywhere_8HP_Smart_Win_HP+_Print_Anywhere_8

-- What if? --

If there is an entry for Print Anywhere

Open Your HP Smart / HP Connected account and check whether your printer is added.

OR

If there is not an entry for Print Anywhere

Then the installation of the HP Smart application did not add the Print Anywhere feature.

If there is not an entry for Print Anywhere

Then we will have to ask for help --

An HP agent can check parts of your setup where I do not (should not) have access.

Thanks for that.  I went through all the steps but when it came here:

   Next,

  • Scroll down to Section Settings
  • Look for "Print Anywhere"

There is not option for Print Anywhere.  SETTINGS for me shows only "Shortcuts" and "Advanced Settings", neither of which is relevant.  Do you have any other steps I might take?

You are welcome.

No, unfortunately the bag of tricks is exhausted.

I will request that an agent take a look --

Agents can access private information if / when necessary.

It's also possible I missed something.

It happens.
