HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

Al 4 original HP 952XL cartridges are rejected simultaneously at startup, and printer enters BUSY condition so nothing can be downloaded or printed.  Factory Reset from menu system makes no difference.

Ho do I get it reset to Factory NEW condition?

Hi @DJ4608,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 rejecting cartridges!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure all cartridges are correctly installed and their contacts are clean. Remove each cartridge, inspect them for damage, and reinsert them properly.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve issues related to cartridge errors. Check HP’s website for any available updates for your printer model.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn the printer off, disconnect the power cord, and wait for about 60 seconds before reconnecting and powering it back on. This can sometimes clear errors when a soft reset fails.

Inspect the Printer for Blockages:

  • Open the printer cover and check for any paper jams or obstructions that might be causing the error.

Regionalization Issues:

  • Verify that the cartridges are compatible with the printer’s region setting. If there has been a change in region, contacting HP support can assist in resetting the printer’s region settings.

I hope this helps.
