HP LaserJet 1018 Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I got a new Dell OptiPlex with Windows 10 Professional. I have 2 Asus laptops and an older desktop that all use the printer. The new machine won't "see" it as a printer. If you plug in to USB it says it's an unspecified USB device and ready to be used. It recognized the name HP Laserjet 1018. But it does not identify it or recognize it as a printer. I tried following the suggestions someone else had listed in the forums. I downloaded the cab file I extracted it. I selected the HPLJ1020.inf file. It found the file, it brought up a list of printers to choose from including the 1018 and the 1020. I tried to select each one of those and it said that the printer driver was not installed. Having two or three other machines that can all print to this, I've also searched the internet trying to find a way just to copy the printer driver file. All the instructions I have found have not worked. So I come here hoping for help.5
