Although my printer is connected to the internet and in 'ready' mode, I continually get an error message telling me to authenticate the drum through the software. It also says (in a double message) that I should be able to authenticate through the software, but "it's not connected to the internet right now" and tells me to authenticate later.

How do I fix this? SUPER ANNOYING, but it does tell me the printer is online.

Tried updating firmware, but it says the “HP Firmware Updater.app” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. I'm on a Mac

@banschutz

You can override your Mac security settings to open it. See the Apple Support article Safely open apps on your Mac.

Let me know how it goes.
