I've been up all night trying to fix this:

I moved to a new country and so I have a new ISP. Everything is set up fine and all my other devices work but for the life of me, I cannot get my printer to work.

I've tried literally every single thing you can imagine (except I didn't get a USB connector so I wasn't able to use that). I used the WSP feature to connect; I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software on my computer; I've dowloaded the easy install - everything! All I get is the power button flashing, the wireless light flashing - my MAC cannot find the printer but when I access HP Smart app, it shows there but offline and uninstalled in the installation status.

Please help! I'm about to lose all my hair!

I would require few details to be able to assist you better

- Do you have any Anti-virus installed on your Mac?

- How far is the printer located from the WiFi router?
- Please ensure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network.
-Note:- This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. Do not connect it to 5 GHz Network incase your Router supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz
- If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, then the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Also check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.

Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.

Also check for WiFi interference and perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by touching the wireless icon on the printer display or by printing a Network Configuration Page

Keep me posted 😋

Hi @Krazy Toad,

I cannot ensure that the printer and my computer are on the same network because I cannot connect the printer to the wifi! I had my Wifi connection renamed when I was in Brussels and I am using the same name here now in Geneva. I'm thinking that it might be looking for the same name but because the details are different, it doesn't connect.

It worked fine before on my Mac and also my PC. None of these work now. Nor does it work from my phone and it used to before. I think it might be the issue of the same name of the Wifi network but even when I have tried to use another one, the fact that the printer indicates "offline" I can't do anything.

Isn't there a way to factory reset this or anything? HP Support have been of absolutely no help and I'm half tempted to return the printer to a store and just dump it there 😞

@KrazyToad

By the way, it seems as though my printer might be connected on an IP address 192.168.1.1 which is different than what I see with my current internet router/box. I guess the trick is knowing how to change that?

Please restore the printer's Network Settings back to default

Press and Hold the Wireless Button + Cancel Button for 10 seconds

Then download and run the HP Smart App to help you connect the printer back to your Network
