ExHP M477fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Cannot connect to the web interface on the HP M477 from some computers on the network. I have 6 computers in an office and 4 can connect to the M477 web interface and the other 2 cannot connect.  I can ping the printer from all 6 computers and all 6 computers can connect to the printer and print. The scanner software will not connect to the printer on the 2 computers. One of the two affected computers was just freshly reloaded, the other computer was loaded a two years ago. I have verified the following:

  • All computers have Windows 10 Pro installed
  • All computers can ping the printer with a command prompt
  • All computers can install and print to the printer
  • All computers are on the same IP subnet as the router and printer
  • All computers, printer and router have the same subnet mask
  • All IP addresses are with the range set by the router (1-200)
  • One of the computers is an administrator machine with full admin rights
  • I have rebooted the router, access point and printer

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

I suggest trying a full restart cycle when you can, as a such relies on the network, be sure to follow exact order if you may previously perform it in any different order :

Restart your router by unplugging its power for a moment, allow it up to 3 minutes to start.

Restart the printer and your computers and check if you may see any difference.

If you still cannot locate the printer EWS page, temporarily disable any security software connected to these two computers and check.

If those are connected to a VPN network, temporary disconnect it and check for any difference.

If the same results are given, contact your network provider for any further check, as you say the printer is connected to the network and accessible for other computers, meaning the problem relies on the network or these specific computers only.

As you say "rebooted the router, access point and printer"

Is the printer connected to the router or to any other access point?

Are these computers connected to the same SSID as the printer, or to any other one?

Any specific difference between the 4 working devices to the 2 affected devices?

Thank you for the input.

- I have removed the power from the router, switch and access point for several minutes and then restarted them

- I have restarted the computers and printers multiple times

- I have uninstalled Symantec Anti-Virus and tried to access the Web Interface with no luck

- The printer is connected over wifi to an access point, however I have hooked up a hard-line network cable to the printer to bypass the access point and could still not access it

 - All computers are hooked up to the same SSID and it doesn't matter if they are hooked up to a network cable or through wifi, all 4 computers can connect to the web interface but the two can not connect.

- There is no difference between the the four computers that can access it and the two that can't. All the computers have Windows 10 Pro and Symantec Anti-Virus.
